Our team is building a beautiful new website that will provide full digital access to 200 of the most significant cookbooks in American history published from the 1790s to 1960. This represents a major modernization and expansion of the Feeding America project, one of the most important digital resources for scholars and students of food history. On the new America in the Kitchen site, each of the 200 cookbooks will be accompanied by a short, accessible essay to guide readers, along with other resources like a historical culinary glossary and photographs of more than 150 historical cooking tools and appliances and descriptions of their functions. The America in the Kitchen site will launch in spring 2027.
